A lot of people have mentioned wasting much time deleting all those messages. What I did is this: I stopped the download and went on the web to www.mail2web.com Using this site I was able to delete all the offending messages as a block without downloading any of them. There are also other similar websites that will allow you to do this - just for future reference.
