Others more knowledgeable will also reply, but I can share that my
conversion from 8.1 to 9.1 on PTP 180, 604e, with 384 ram, original 2
gig hd, went well. I initialized the hd from the 9.1 install cd (which
was actually made for an iMac), then installed the OS 9.1

The initializing showed up a message saying the cd rom driver is a third
party driver, but that wouldn't hurt the initializing. I checked the
continue on, and the driver was made into an Apple driver.

I really enjoy iTunes on my PTP using 9.1 I have the PTP networked
through an Asante router to my newer iMac.

My next project will be replacing the LOUD PTP fans.

Good luck.
