I also had similar problems on a PowerCurve when upgrading. What solved my problems was just moving the pci cards to different slots. I don't know why it matters, but my system would not boot, just a black screen and no chime or anything, unless the pci cards were in a certain order. You might try moving then to different slots and see if that helps.
