I followed the instructions for an OS 9.x installation and everything seemed to go okay right up until I tried to check the Aeropad Settings. I entered the ESSID, clicked the Information tab (which tells you whether it's connected), and the signal strength bar hit 100%. But when I clicked the Apply button, one of several things happened:
The computer crashed (i.e., I got an error message); The computer froze; All of the icons on the desktop disappeared and THEN the computer froze.
I have just tried putting a tilde before the Aeropad extension name, and rebooting. That seems to eliminate the crashing, but I am still unable to get to the Internet or to communicate with any other machine or printer on my LAN.
(In case this is useful information: Whenever I first check the status of the adapter to see if it's working, the fields in the "Information" tab are all blank; it takes a second for them to be filled in and for the signal strength ruler to appear.)
The Aeropad is just a few feet away from the router.
Any ideas? Has anyone successfully used this adapter with a Powerbase or other PowerComputing machine?
