They'll work just fine. No special driver needed. You may have to format them with a hacked version of Drive Setup. Google hacked drive setup and you should find the instructions. The CD-ROM extension is only to allow use of "unsupported" CD-ROMs.

Yeah, in Windows, the resource fork shows as an identical file. Just copy the data file and you should be okay.

Regarding the Gx upgrade... I had an XLR8 zif carrier in mine. I'd recommend that rather than a fixed processor. I only have experience with the G3 upgrade, so I can't comment on the G4 compatibility.

The OS9 from xlr8yourmac is the direction that I'd go. $39 is a fine price.

Lo and behold! as it turns out, a computer that I picked up on the same day
as this PTP (on the street - the garbage guys didn't pick it up I guess, so
I did) has a SCSI controller and SCSI drives in it. It is a Pentium PC
compatible and boots to Win98.

I checked the Seagate website and the drives are:

ST31230N Hawk, 5300 rpm 1.2GB
ST32550N Barracuda, 7200 rpm 2.3GB

Will these SCSI drives work in the PTP or are they only for IBM compatibles?
The website does not mention Macs at all. Seems to me all I would need is a
"driver"/extension that supports the drives.

Jim, does that CD-ROM extension file you sent also work for hard drives? If
not, is there a similar file for HD's?

Thanks,
Sean
