I talked too soon. The Giant Screen has come back. But as a Mini Giant. It still is so big it goes off screen - but it is manageable.
This happens before the icons popup on the bottom of the screen so it my be the video card as you suggest. It shows up on the profiler as a Aty mach 64_3D_pcc Model ATY GT-B vendor 1002. Michael Mac suggested I get a G4 off ebay and quit worrying about it. Why is it, you lust for a more powerful machine, with problems you don't know about ... when the machine you have is perfectly adequate? And you are fully aware of all it's problems and short comings. I was about to think it was the old male thing, faster is better.
