As a follow-up question, why the difference in PSU sizes on the C6145? The
larger PSU presumably for a full-load of hot hard-drives?

Or from another perspective, is the 1100W PSU (as a pair) likely to be enough
to power 4 x 115W CPUs and 512GB (32 x 16GB RDIMMs), no hard drives, maybe a
small SSD per sled?

It is tricky to gauge DIMM power consumption given the myriad of current usage
parameters (seems to swing from sub-Watt to about 3 or 4W under load); SSDs are
about 2-3W.

That would suggest 460W CPU (4 x CPU), 96W for memory (32 x 3W?), and remainder
for the mainboard, it would be tight even on the 1100W PSU?

I'm guessing the PSU is 80% efficient or is the rating assume that already?

I just checked. It's definitely not there. All the PSU related commands work
for C6220 but rely on a protocol that came after C6145. Sorry about that.

Didn't want you to burn time looking.

You can see power draw in amps from the bmc sensor database, though. Not
exactly the same thing.

Oops sorry, I see I completely forgot to mention in my original message that I
wanted to query for the C6145.

Ok, so capability missing in the older models like the C6145, I guess I will
have to eyeball the PSU :)

Thanks though for mentioning BMC, I'd forgotten to look at it, and it does have
quite a bit of other info that might be useful.

that was only for the c6200 chassis/nodes. "bmc allinfo" should show it if it
is available. (i think that's the command; it's been a while). I definitely
remember writing that code, but if you're interested in an older chassis
(C6145, C6100, etc) the info might not have been available. I think this was a
later add-I was pretty excited to be able to expose it.

I found this, but the field is empty?

Is there a way to query the PSU size (1100W or 1400W) from the command line
(ipmi or one of the PEC tools)?

Thanks.
