Firstly: There is NO assumption made here. It is a reproducible fact.
Secondly: Single click does NOT work and has never worked for me; I just
tried it on a text message sent on this very mailing list. The only two
methods I have found to work in PM are:
1) Double clicking the URL
(undesirable as double clicking usually means "select whole word")
2) CMD-clicking the URL
(desirable. Also standard action on most mac apps AFAIK)
