of course it was. and it was frustrating because that was the answer I
got right after upgrading to the latest version in the hoped that this
would handle the problems.

trust me, I WAS logged in as high priv (root) and I am myself not too un-
savy when it comes to computer support plus I have my husband around who
has a big network (PC and Mac mix) and does a lot of support and builds
his own machines etc. and he double-checked that I didn't overlook
anything. It just plain didn't work and was a hassle with which I dealt
for many hours until I had enough. But this is already more than a year
ago, soon two and so I forget the details of it all, gets foggy, ya know? :-)

Trust me - it WAS like that. Now, it might have changed meanwhile and
the problems might have been fixed with it - but - I really don't care
any longer. I have a new solution which works without a hiccup and
that's all what I need.

R-SyncX, yes. I liked SuperDuper! better and this is the reason I'm
using it. But R-SyncX is free and will be sufficient for many users, I
know we've backed up many older machines before upgrading with R-SyncX
with good results. If buggy or not, I can't say, but the overall
performance seemed very useful. Not sure how SuperDuper! handles the
open files issue, this of course is always an issue, backing up while
application is open. Good luck with your search!
