I've stayed out of this for the longest while, but this "problem" makes
me need to ask a question: What do you have against people who may own
PowerMail, not know about this list, but need help? So, they find the
archive, find an answer to their problem and maybe then join the list.
People who aren't lucky enough to be on this list aren't deserving of our
wit and wisdom?

If this were a group about some private issues, I'd understand not
wanting non-members to have access. But this isn't some special club.
This is a Powermail discussion and help list. Anyone in the world can
join at any time, therefore it is a public list, and anything posted to
it has no expectation of never being seen again.

I personally think any fears about email addresses being gathered by
spammers have been addressed by the suggestion of that archive service
that screens out all email addresses. The question of archives comes up
on this list often enough that I think they should exist. I was going to
do it myself over a year ago but couldn't find software that reliably
screened the email addresses. Now we have that, and I think it is a
disservice to Powermail owners NOT to archive this.
