The primary reason any Mac user might wish to consider an Anti-Virus
package is actually to help his/her PC using colleagues. In at least the
case of NAV, and possibly Virex, the bulk of definition strings in their
datafiles are actually for PC viruses.

In this way a Mac user avoids becoming the "Typhoid Mary" of the
computing world, i.e. a carrier. Imagine what could happen if a mac user
inadvertently passes on a PC virus to a PC user, perhaps by forwarding a
file from a 3rd user on which they are collaborating. The mac user gets
accused of having an infected machine and might find him/herself locked
out of a network by that network's security features.

Personally, I don't use anything as I tend to be quite paranoid about
such things and careful regarding what I forward to others. However,
even I know that I will one day make a mistake. It is for that reason I
am considering Virex (I'm not a big NAV fan).

Hope this helps.
