I receive no more than 150 messages/day and keep perhaps 30.  I guess I
need to count them all as the Mail Trash is also indexed(?).  I did my
last search 2 or 3 days ago and another on reading this message today.
Today's search took 45 seconds between clicking 'Search' and the results
pane opening.  If PM is only working on the messages received (max 450),
then it has taken 1/10 second per message (ie 100 milliseconds per
message, if you prefer that measure).  By the way PM and its files are on
a 4 GB hard disk which has 1.8 GB free so disk space should not be an
issue.  And most of the messages are less than 1K.
