Matthias - Thanks for the suggestion about a rights problem. I used Disk Copy to repair permissions but it had no effect; same result.
I even selected all four of the options on the rebuild dialog box (the one that comes up when you start PM with Command-Option). Same result, same messages. Although I also had the following messages. 2003-10-14 12:57:23.768 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3c902b0 of class NSConcreteNotification autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:23.769 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3cb1130 of class NSCFArray autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:24.153 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x28a2ac0 of class NSCFNumber autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:24.154 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3d238e0 of class NSCFNumber autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:24.154 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3d26020 of class NSCFDictionary autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:24.154 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3d22e30 of class NSConcreteNotification autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:24.155 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3d21060 of class NSCFArray autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:25.926 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3cd83d0 of class NSCFNumber autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:25.927 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3cab140 of class NSCFNumber autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:25.927 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3d49490 of class NSCFDictionary autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:25.928 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3d494f0 of class NSConcreteNotification autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:25.928 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3d2d190 of class NSCFArray autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:25.929 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3d2d240 of class NSCFNumber autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:25.929 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3d49810 of class NSCFNumber autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:25.930 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3d4a640 of class NSCFDictionary autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:25.930 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3d4a6a0 of class NSConcreteNotification autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:25.930 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3d4a6c0 of class NSCFArray autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:25.931 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3d4a6e0 of class NSConcreteNotification autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:25.932 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3d4a700 of class NSCFArray autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:25.933 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3d4a790 of class NSPathStore2 autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:25.933 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3d4a820 of class NSPathStore2 autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:25.935 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3cdd9a0 of class NSIdEnumerator autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:25.935 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3ce4c80 of class NSCFNumber autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2003-10-14 12:57:25.936 PowerMail[3617] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3cda730 of class NSCFArray autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking The "just leaking" part doesn't sound very good. Even trying synching my PM address book with Apple's Address Book - again no difference. Again this is 100% reproducible - every time I start up PM. Makes me regret upgrading from PM 4.2.
