Fair enough. That sounds like a good reason to avoid using RTFD. I 
normally use standard RTF files created with Nisus Writer X or Word.

As for PM forcibly making the file extension visible, that only seems 
to happen if AppleDouble is selected as the encoding option. I just 
forwarded an attachment (using the Automatic option) to Jerome, so we 
will see if Jerome can work out what is causing the problem.
