I have no problems getting mail from gmail. In fact, the only problems
I had in the past were with sending mail.
At any rate, I have basically all the same settings as above but with
three notes:
1) I have *UN*checked the "starttls" option under the receiving tab.
The use secure connection is still selected.
2) Port 995 is selected.
3) My username entry does *NOT* include "@gmail.com"
The above is also true for my Thunderbird (PC) setup at work, which is
what I am using to reply to this e-mail.

I want to make a comment here. I currently have 28 email accounts set up
in PM. I have all of my accounts enabled, but when the PM opens or does
one of it's periodic checks for mail, it does not check all of those
accounts. Some of my business accounts and my GMail account have to be
manually checked. By manually checked I mean, go up to the tool bar and
click the "connect again" button. Can anyone explain why it doesn't
check all 28 accounts and how to fix it? I have search the settings and
cannot find anything I've missed.
Thanks,
Angelica

You mean this is what PM displays in background processes? Does it make
a difference using a schedule to check or using the connection menu?
Have you made sure the relevant account has been checked under the
accounts dialog in the schedule settings window as well as in the
connection dialog if you use the menu command to check for mail?
Did you also try and uncheck "on port" like my settings have been set
up? When I checked this just now I had to reenter my password again. It
did work for me though to connect on port 995.
Have you verified you do have new mail on your gmail account that has
not been set to collected by some automated POP connection from another
application or server somewhere? If you login from the web, you see
messages both before and after a POP connection?
In this situation I would restart Powermail holding down the alt+Cmd
keys and inactivate schedules as well as cleaning the mail-queue. Then
carefully connect from the connection menu to only the gmail account. If
nothing useful could be gleaned from these actions I would use a tool
like Net Tool box and listen in on the connection (which would be
encrypted as I think you can't use unencrypted POP connections with the
gmail servers).

go to Setup -> Schedules and Places (is it called like that in English?)
click on Schedules and then click the button "Accounts..." next to
connect every x minutes.
Then you will get a list with your pop accounts each with a check box
next to it.
Check the boxes for all accounts which should be checked regularly.
That should do the trick ;-)
Thanks and all the best
Matthias
