Browns Ferry surveys the whole bundle. After our surveys are completed
the bundles are placed in the pool. The new fuel boxes are generally
stacked away from where the survey and inspection take place on the new
bundle.

Subject: Powernet: New Fuel Surveys

Quick question about survey requirements for new fuel. When you conduct
radiation surveys of new fuel as it's unloaded and staged in the plant,
how many locations do you survey each bundle?

1. 1 (center of bundle)
2. 3 (center and toward top and bottom)
3. 5 (~ every 2 feet or so)
4. Other

As the fuel is loaded into new fuel racks, the general area dose rates
do become measurable such that a reduction in survey locations should
have a small but measurable personnel dose benefit.
