At DC Cook our initial setpoints are also based on historical data, but
our ALARA procedure contains the following guidance.
This is intended primarily to ensure the dose estimates are still
accruate, but there is a subsequent step that says to revise RWPs as
necessary (which would certainly include ED setpoints)

3.4.2 In the early stages of a refueling outage, such as post
shutdown/post crud
burst, the actual as-found radiological conditions should be
compared to the
projected/estimated radiological conditions for each job
reviewed by the
           ALARA Subcommittee/ALARA Committee.

                              a. The following radiological
conditions should be evaluated.
                        · work area dose rates
                                · travel path dose rates
                                · work area conditions that may
affect personnel time in the area

Powernet: RWP Setpoint Changes

Duke currently establishes RWP dose and dose rate setpoints based on
historical data for outages, with various tasks under the RWP having
setpoints commensurate with the area work is to be performed. Does anybody
have a process where they would adjust these established setpoints once
the unit is off-line, and initial surveys are completed, dependent on
conditions identified?
