STP has had these issues in the past.  Particle shoe contaminations from the 
SFP area were the issue.  Investigation revealed local air currents across the 
SFP to the clean area were the most likely cause of particles in the clean 
area.  (Local air currents were found even though the general movement of air 
was from the clean area into the SFP area.)  We installed a Plexiglas(r) wall 
around that part of the SFP as a barrier and have virtually eliminated these 
events.

Palo Verde requests information on the following:


Palo Verde has been dealing with chronic personnel contamination events due to 
discrete radioactive particles in our Fuel Buildings.  Extensive housekeeping 
and decontaminated efforts have had a negligible impact and the primary source 
of contamination is suspected to be the Spent Fuel Pool (SFP).  With this in 
mind, have other stations:

1.      Had similar challenges with contamination control/personnel 
contamination events around your spent fuel pools?  If so,

Did you identified any cause(s)

Did you implement any corrective actions such as clean-up of water line 
residue, activity concentration reduction efforts, and filtration specification 
or resin changes?

Any help / information would be greatly appreciated.
