What "RP" activities do Chemistry Technicians perform at your site?
Do Chemistry Technicians provide self coverage for collecting
samples from radioactive systems? Yes at the sample sinks and Fuel Pool only
Do Chemistry Technicians dose rate samples (e.g., RCS)? Yes
Do Chemistry Technicians transport radioactive material? Yes
If yes, what is the threshold dose rate above
which they have to be escorted by RP? Procedure threshold is to contact RP if >
2 mr/hr to deteremine course of action
Do Chemistry Technicians perform some contamination surveys of
their work areas? Yes
What initial radiological training is provided to Chemistry Technicians in
addition to standard Radiation Worker Training (e.g., ARW?)? Chem techs get RP
basics training and have agreement they can become duel qualified. Presently 4
Chem techs fully RP qualified and work outages as RP techs
What continuing radiological training is provided to Chemistry Technicians in
addition to standard Radiation Worker training requalification? Rad controls
incorporated into their continuing training
