Subject: Powernet: Sealed Source Labeling Question

Recently at Fermi a CR was initiated for labeling of sealed source
"containers." The CR states that sealed sources at Fermi are not labeled and
controlled in accordance with 10CFR20.1904. The sources in question are
individually labeled in accordance with 10CFR20.1904 by the manufacturer and
stored in a locked cabinet and posted with a "Caution Radioactive Material"
sign. The initiator of the CR contends that the cabinet is the "container" and
thus must be labeled on out the outside in accordance 10CFR20.1904. I contend
that the sealed source's encapsulation is the container. Can I get a sanity
peer check on this please.

Thank you in advance,

Wolf Creek is requesting information for the following questions:

What type of radiation survey software does your site use? Currently surveys
are documented on paper. We have completed testing and training on VSDS and
hope to implement this year.

Do you train contract personnel to use this software? No, once we implement
VSDS we will train our supplementals.

Is your radiation survey software required for all surveys performed, or do you
allow special circumstances to write them by hand? (Excluding the obvious,
computer system down). Once implemented, we will used the electronic survey
program but can use hand written surveys if needed.

Are your surveys available for all site personnel to view once the survey is
complete? Once VSDS is implemented it will be available for review by the site
once the surveys have been approved.

Please state any future plans you might have regarding survey software changes
or updates.
