Exelon, LaSalle County Stations responds
Step off pad has section at Bottom for worker to place ED when removing from pocket of PC Signs/posters at Main work areas show the proper donning and doffing process. ED removal is included in this sign. This sign is also at main dress out areas. Signs are also strategically placed at Main access facility and entrance to RCA. Additionally we have placed easels at exit of step off pad/area asking if worker has ED. Not using smart turnstiles at this time Steve Lorenz Exelon Nuclear-LaSalle Station Contamination Control Supervisor '(815) 415-2390 Pager:(815) 983-0340 Home:(815) 436-5053 Cell:(815) 592-6276 Fax:(815) 415-4018 [email protected] ________________________________ From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Huneycutt, Scott Sent: Monday, March 19, 2012 9:15 AM To: '[email protected]' Cc: Hawker, Mark G. Subject: Powernet: Benchmark on EDs left at SOPs A quick benchmark: What are sites doing to make sure persons exiting high-traffic Contamination Areas do not leave their Electronic Dosimeters at the step-off pad or in their PCs? Are sites using engineering controls such as smart turnstiles or swing-arms so an ED is required to exit the area (outside the CA)? EDs are required to log out of the RCA. An ED left at the CA exit might not be discovered until the worker is ready to log out of the RCA. This means they are not monitored by self-reading, alarming dosimeters during transit to exit (or until discovery). Also, the EDs might be mixed up in plant laundry before it can be retrieved; their dose history for the that RCA entry would therefore be lost. Your response is appreciated.
