North Anna utilizes smart turnstiles at the exit from the dress out area (to
ensure they have their ED after donning PCs) and at the exit from the
Containment SOP (High Traffic) to ensure they do not leave it behind. In
addition, we man the exit area 24/7 to provide coaching and reinforcement of
undress sequence and rad worker practices.

Fermi - posted instructions, periodic oversight, use baskets on stanchions
rather than placing ED on SOP. Follow-up question, for those sites using a
smart turnstile after exiting high traffic CA, are you also using a smart
turnstile for entering that CA?

A quick benchmark:

What are sites doing to make sure persons exiting high-traffic Contamination
Areas do not leave their Electronic Dosimeters at the step-off pad or in their
PCs?

Are sites using engineering controls such as smart turnstiles or swing-arms so
an ED is required to exit the area (outside the CA)?

EDs are required to log out of the RCA. An ED left at the CA exit might not be
discovered until the worker is ready to log out of the RCA. This means they are
not monitored by self-reading, alarming dosimeters during transit to exit (or
until discovery). Also, the EDs might be mixed up in plant laundry before it
can be retrieved; their dose history for the that RCA entry would therefore be
lost.

Your response is appreciated.
