During outages we use DAD turnstiles at the containment undress step-off pads. At other step-off pads, we use undress instructions to prompt the worker during the undress process. Unfortunately, we still get a handful of workers who leave their EDs at the step-off pad.

Are sites using engineering controls such as smart turnstiles or swing-arms so an ED is required to exit the area (outside the CA)? EDs are required to log out of the RCA. An ED left at the CA exit might not be discovered until the worker is ready to log out of the RCA. This means they are not monitored by self-reading, alarming dosimeters during transit to exit (or until discovery). Also, the EDs might be mixed up in plant laundry before it can be retrieved; their dose history for the that RCA entry would therefore be lost. Your response is appreciated.
