Palo Verde provides the following response:
1) Does your site have an empty pockets policy for entering the RRA? No.
however, we emphasize that workers check for and remove contraband.
2) Does your site have an empty pockets policy for exiting the RRA? No.
3) Are Radworkers allowed to use the SAM when exiting the RRA for personal
items? Yes.
- What items are considered personal? Notebooks, clipboards, paper,
dosimetry, pens, pencils, ACADs, lanyards, flashlights, hand-held electronic
devices, pagers, keys, eyeglasses, PPE (e.g. gloves, etc).
4) Does you site allow personal gloves to be monitored in and out of RRA? Yes,
see above.
- Who performs the monitoring? Individuals perform the monitoring;
however, if the SAM alarms, RP must respond to all SAM alarms.
5) What restrictions do you place on routine/standard tools entering and
exiting the RRA? Palo Verde prohibits common hand tools from routinely entering
and exiting the RCA. We make allowances for specialty tools and some M&TE
equipment.
- Is this delineated in your procedures? Yes.
6) Are RP Techs responding to PCM or SAM alarms required to wear rubber
gloves? Techs are required to wear gloves (surgeon’s gloves) for all SAM alarm
responses. For PCM alarms, it is on as needed basis
