Subject: Powernet: ED warning alarms and latching rate alarm

Fermi 2 would like feed back from our industry peers on the following:

1. Do you use the dose and/or rate alarm warnings available with the
DMC2000/DMC 3000? Not at this time.

2. If you do, why and what issues have you had? N/A.

3. If you don't, why not? Concerns with reliance on the warning alarm to
initiate backout, instead of focusing on surveys, situational awareness and
monitoring accumulated dose at the frequency specified on the Radiation
Exposure Permit. We do have an issue with alarms of short duration which staff
have not recognized/responded to.

4. Do you use the rate alarm latching feature? Not on the EPD (although we are
considering it), but we have configured our iPAMs to latch for 8 cycles as an
interim measure.

5. What access control software do you use and what version is it? In house
software.

6. Please provide a contact for additional information. As above.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.
