Subject: Powernet: HEPA Benchmarking

Hello all,

D. C. Cook is looking to benchmark other HEPA programs in the nuclear power
industry. Below are some specific questions that we're most interested in.
Thank you for your response.

1. How do you control your HEPA(PVU) and vacuums? HEPAs and extra vacuums not
designated for issue are kept in a locked area in the radioactive waste
building. Vacuums designated for issue are kept in the tool crib and locked up
with a cable chain and padlocks.

2. Do you store them in a cage or designated room in your Auxiliary building?
See question 1.

3. Who does the maintenance on the HEPA(PVU) and vacuums? Radioactive Material
Control Laborers perform filter changes, maintenance perform the HEPA filter
testing and minor maintenance on the vacuums.

4. Do you have a computer check out system? yes

5. How do you control where the HEPA(PVU) and vacuums are moved to after they
have been issued? Worker who checked out the vacuum is responsible for
maintaining control of the vacuum and preventing unauthorized use.

6. Do you perform your own PAO (leak test) testing? Yes, Maintenance Department.

7. How often do you verify the radiological conditions of the vacuums? It is
dependent on the radiological conditions at the work locations. At a minimum
the vacuums available for use are checked monthly during the routine survey of
the Tool Crib.

8. What type of HEPA(PVU) and Vacuums do you use? SP-125, SP-700, SP-1000 and
PFB 2500SP all supplied by RPS. Vacuum cleaners are from Nilfisk.

PVU = Portable Ventilation Unit
