Palisades is looking to enhance our source control program and would like insights to other sites' control programs.
Please respond to the following questions, simplistic responses are fine, elaboration is welcome. I will be happy to share results with interested parties, just contact me. Source Questions: Do you use a vendor database to track sealed sources such as Sentinel, VSDS and any recognized benefits from use? Do you have enhanced tracking tools such as Bar Code or RFID chips on the sources? Recognized benefits such as zone tracking? Do you have specific source storage location control owners (RP and Non-RP)? Do you include chemistry cross check sources in you source control program (sealed or unsealed)? Do you track plant equipment installed sources and is it procedurally required? (ARMs, Gas Chromatographs) Disposal methods for retired source and recommended vendors? Part 30 sources tracked in source control program? Specific action is source control procedure for control of Radiograph sources? Control of Polonium 210 sources used for static elimination (Part 30 sources) Do your technical specifications address/differentiate Polonium 210 sources (>5 micro-curies of alpha emitting material) Any other unique program elements at your site?
