Braidwood is the same as Ginna however and in the spirit of "Delivering the
Nuclear Promise", I offer the following philosophical response. Why not empower
an RPT with the following procedural guidance:

· Large area smear the area and designate it a no-frisk RCA.

· Establish area dose rates by documented survey.

· Estimate driver dose based on time and dose rates.

· If less than 1 or 2 mrem, allow RPT to authorize driver entry under
their direct supervision.

No measurable dose and no contamination under the cognizance of an empowered
RPT seems like a reasonable control to me. Just a thought...

Subject: [powernet] RE: Truck drivers that need to enter the RCA temporarily

We have our Shift RP Technicians qualified to issue dosimetry. This allows us
to issue dosimetry whenever required without needing to call in the Dosimetry
clerk.

For us, the specific case you describe would be pretty rare. Generally, these
people would show up during the normal work day.

We do have a "Guest Visitor" process for individuals who make RCA entries that
are incidental in nature. There are restrictions on where they can go and what
they can do and they are required to be escorted. There is a form to complete
and RP Supervision approval is required.

DCPP would like to know how truck drivers, that temporarily need to enter the
RCA are handled off hours when the dosimetry office is closed.

  *   Process or paperwork?
  *   Training requirements?
  *   Exposure monitoring devices needed?

Please provide a contact number.
