We used to add it to improve clarity during split pin projects. It essential
acts somewhat like a flocculant. It drives the particles to the bottom of the
cavity. We used 30%- several gallons at a time. It was neutralized as 1
gallon of peroxide in a LOT of cavity water turns it into water. After
draindown, the tiny particulate can be hosed to the drain. (PWR)
After draindown we have used 6-8% in our BWR for drains or the walls. Do NOT
allow it to dry and it is so effective that it will go airborne if you let it
dry. Neutralize with water. Very effective in drains, but the ‘hot stuff’ you
liberate may go somewhere you don’t want it (you must study the downstream path
before doing it). Caution: 30% is dangerous and will eat through plastic bags.
6-8% is the same as hair dye. 3% peroxide is in your medicine cabinet. Hope
this helps, sue

Email sent from outside of PSEG. Use caution before using links/attachments.
Not sure if the concentrations will be the same, but we performed this by
adding 5 gallons to the cavity prior to drain down and saw no effect on Decon
effort. May not be worth the effort, but also had no negative effects.

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [Powernet] Peroxide add to cavity

Comanche Peak will be adding peroxide to our cavity to aid in cavity decon.
Our Operations department has concerns that it could create a CRUD BURST or if
poured straight into the cavity a clarity issue. Has anyone ever had an issue
with either.

Thanks
