No. Columbia Generating Station had never implemented that "chirp" or "beep per mRem" function.
Mostly for the same reason others have present. Avoid possible worker confusion. Avoid desensitizing workers to dosimeter audible chirping when working in higher dose rates and the chip rate becomes too frequent. It can also become quite a distraction when there are multiple workers in same area in high dose rate fields. The Chirps come from all over the place and begin to sound like a flock of birds in a tree. Distracting and annoying the workers. A lot of extra info I threw out there. But I think you'll find the problems will tend to outweigh any potential benefit. I think it best to encourage workers to look at their dosimeter frequently, and not rely on dosimeter chirp or beep to remind them to look at it. Email sent from: Bradley A Krupp via Powernet [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> I know this question has been asked before but Fermi is wondering who among our peers are using the SRD Chirp function for every 1 millirem or some other frequency. If so, why. If not, why not. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Brad Krupp
