Two sides of the fence below :

[ Super cheap 32-bit open platform ]

Well, I have already expressed my opinion with regards to the super cheap
super small 32-bit embedded solution space. Go with something that you can
fab up yourself because, after all, you will have all the specs yourself and
it will be really low cost. That explains the reason why I looked at that
EFIKA type embedded solution again. It works well. It is small. Super low
power and super low heat. It is a PowerPC and it is 32-bit. What more could
you ask for? I am not interested in hearing about a dead platform
manufactured by no one and open to no one. That would be a waste of my time.
Anything *that* cheap can be made ourselves.

[ Real world server centric 64-bit future ]

Unless you have been under a rock, on mars, for the past decade, there has
been a bit of a shift in the market towards 64-bit architectures and even
Microsoft is talking pure 64-bit these days. The POWER6 processor is a very
popular and reasonable solution to look at. It is also low cost.

It does not matter which way you go. Either way you pay to play in order to
have hardware that is available and open in terms of all its specs.

At this point I feel that I ( possibly we ) are beating a dead horse.
