In fact nobody say that a blank screensaver save any power directly. We use a 
blank screensaver only to avoid using a random, in bad cases 3D/OpenGL, 
screensaver which cost CPU.

The place where we save power are the DPMS settings (in the KPowersave 
'Powersave' scheme: 2/3/5 minutes). 

Btw. IMO the difference between a white screen and a black screen (or blanked 
screensaver) is more theoretical (I could not find any measurement results 
about that in the pdf) and has no significant effect to the battery (at least 
also because we go after 2 minutes to DPMS and off the backlight).
