Kurva Laffer yang cukup terkenal dalam ilmu ekonomi publik, diakui oleh Laffer sendiri adalah diilhami oleh pekerjaan Ibn Khaldun. Dan bagi saya, banyak prinsip ekonomi sebenarnya sejalan dg prinsip Islam, seperti efisiensi, institusional (peran pemerintah), kontrak sosial (terutama dalam game theory), property rights, dll. For example, Ibn Khaldun, a 14th century Muslim philosopher, wrote in his work The Muqaddimah: "It should be known that at the beginning of the dynasty, taxation yields a large revenue from small assessments.
