Rekan-rekan Yth,

a.l. ASEAN, China, India dan Rusia, agar menekan pemerintah Birma untuk
menghentikan politik represinya.

Wassalam, yhg.

A friend of mine supports an orphanage in Burma which was attacked by the
military there last week. It's a brief account of what happened, but indicative
of the senseless aggression of the junta.

Please consider forwarding onto friends in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia etc.;
ASEAN can do more, but chooses not to.

Subject: Burmese Orphanage

Dear friends and family

Apologies for the mass email. We had some sad news over the weekend which we
thought it was important to share.

An orphanage in Burma which looks after 120 children was raided by the
military.

Four monks who looked after and educated the children were taken away and the
rest of the staff were "interrogated".

The military stole all the rice which had been stored to feed the children.

This is a really sad story and it is a real shame that human beings are willing
to inflict pain and misery on helpless children. We help support the orphanage
(along with many others) so felt it was important that others heard this story
as media coverage is now very limited in Burma.

We personally feel that it is important for people in China, India and Russia
to hear this story as these governments have most influence over the military
regime. If the public in these countries can influence their governments to
increase pressure on the Burmese regime then positive steps could follow. If
you know anyone who works in the media, embassies or governments in these
countries please do forward this email. We would be glad to give more
information on what happened or put them in touch with others closer to events.

Kind regards

Hamel and Meredith
