Regarding correct usage, I would be happy to find some time (not
immediately, as there are other pressures) to introduce linter checks for
correct usage of callbacks, so that they are always either invoked or passed
down to an inner method (that itself has the linter check run).
Would this satisfy your concerns for compiler assistance?
