Don't make me frightened... I downloaded the 24.6 from some URL of the GIMPS download page (for Linux; seems to be vanished now), and it runs fine. I just compared it with the 23.9 version (performance tests), and both seem to be equally fast (best fft times differed for 2048 FFT differed by approx. 1.3% - in both directions).
