Julien, I consulted two dictionaries on "factoring" versus "factorizing".
Harrap's Chambers Encyclopedic dictionary only knows the verb "factorise" (British English I suppose) or "factorize" (USA English"). Longman Dictionary of contemporary English only knows the verb "factor" and states it is USA English. So there are at least three forms of the same verb :-) Regards, Jacob > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: 2006-10-15 21:54 > To: [email protected] > Subject: [Prime] prime25 > > HI, I (better my computer) am actually contributing to GIMPS > prime research > using prime25 > ver. 24.14 software. > Intermediate algorithm statistic results are displayed as > :[date time] > Factoring.........up to .. > Should it not be Factorizing ? > This does evidently not affect the quality and performance of > the algorithm > nor the image of > the GIMPS community, but just for the mathematical rigor! > Please let me know about my concern, i.e. if I'm wright or wrong? > > Best regards from a poor old professor > Julien Kipgen > _______________________________________________ > Prime mailing list > [email protected] > http://hogranch.com/mailman/listinfo/prime _______________________________________________ Prime mailing list [email protected] http://hogranch.com/mailman/listinfo/prime
