I guess it just came off to me as being a bit rude. (Thus my funny (to me)
tongue in cheek response (which I'm glad you caught)).
Perhaps better wording such as:
I looked it up on Google and found this great link ...
It would have still gotten the message across (hey, I used Google, you can
too!) without being as confrontational.

Back on topic, I'd rather see work made towards improvements to the core
engine rather than integrating with BOINC. With the new chips coming out and
_maybe_ double precision operations coming out for graphics chips, there are
lots of exciting opportunities to tune the core to improve performance by
much more than an extra 500 users would.
