I think it's rude to expect others to look stuff up for one. Kinda like asking "Anyone know what the meaning of the word 'querolous' is?" Everybody here obviously has access to the internet. Furthermore, I actually did the research for him (I've never heard of BOINC before, either) and the the link I gave http://boinc.berkeley.edu/ has an explanation of what the project is and how it works.
