I think it's rude to expect others to look stuff up for
one. Kinda like asking "Anyone know what the meaning of
the word 'querolous' is?" Everybody here obviously has
access to the internet.

Furthermore, I actually did the research for him (I've never
heard of BOINC before, either) and the  the link I gave 
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/
has an explanation of what the project is and how it works.

In fact, it's the same one (just top level) that Coran Fisher
put up.

Wording which more reflected my attitude would have been
"If you weren't so lazy, you'd have found it in less than a
minute at this location. Next time try getting off your butt
and doing your own work. I'm being nice this time, but next
time I may not even respond."

So, I was already being less confrontational. Many would not
have bothered to do anything for the guy.
