I do not think this question makes sense unless we assume we are competing for a limited resource. But I think we are far from using the available resources now, so these projects are not competing in any real sense. Our campus easily has 800 computers, almost all of them are idle almost all of the time. Some involved individuals may debate which project, but 99% of the users never even consider recycling the computers idle time.
