sorry for the belated reply ... I tried this out now that I'm on vacation 
and actually have a moment to spare ;-); I followed the first 3 stesp steps 
you outline in that blog entry, then wanted to start "printmgr" from the 
command line, as KDE doesn't know about print manager in its menu (yet, I 
presume).
I get this error:
"CLNT:  pmTop:getPrinterList() caught 
com.sun.admin.pm.server.pmCmdFailedException"

and a window pops up saying "cannot get list of printers. Exiting".

what do I need to do now?
