Will, Thing is, no company will give out their source code. A volunteer programmer, if Digidesign was even remotely open to the idea, would have to come in and make an assessment. However, Digi's really not likely to devote time and energy to let someone else, essentially, a stranger, come in and have a go at their source code. Again, they'd sooner work with someone at Apple. Speaking of which, if you thought Digidesign would be reluctant, imagine what Apple, with their notorious non-disclosure agreements and secrecy would do. LOL. they wouldn't let anybody within a mile of their source code. Again, too bad for us that such an idea just wouldn't work, in my opinion. I think they have to be dealt with in the way they're used to, through letters, phone calls, meetings and all-around public pressure. I really don't see it happening any other way.
I might be going out to San Fransisco to do some VoiceOver training for a company out there. If that trip does solidify, I'll make it a point to schedule a meeting with a few folks at digidesign and maybe convince someone at Apple that it would be worth attending. We'll see what happens.
