I have a long term project for which I would like to add some pictures which need to be taken remotely. I am considering two approaches.
1/ Use an old Olympus body, motor drive and long electric cable release. Problem is I'd be shooting blind. Refinements would be using a CCTV like a baby alarm from Tandy to give some idea of what the camera was seeing. 2/ Use a digital camera tethered to a laptop to see a viewfinder view. Will this work at 50 feet? Do USB cables need boosters? Problems are that the camera will sometimes be in front of a boat a few inches above the water line. Although this is on calm canal water I would need clear advantages to use an expensive digi camera over a cheap old 35mm body. Wide angle is essential. Images would only need to be about 7Mb RGB. 12v only available. Any Ideas?
