Only put the ddr your computer will support obviously. Yes ddr is faster. Which ddr though. Sdram 133 mhz Ddr 2100 runs at 266 mhz Ddr 2700 runs at 333 mhz Ddr 3200 runs at 400 mhz Ddr 3700 runs at 450 mhz. If you engage 4 bank interleave in your bios if you can on a mac then they will run even faster as it splits the data between modules on the board, well it does on the pc anyway apparently. With regards to ram I would have though the same with a pc would apply in that you can use the faster ram i.e ddr 3200 and if your board only supports ddr 2100 it would default to the slower speed. I don't know if you can on a mac but on a pc if you have an un locked chip with ddr ram you can increase the voltage and the bus speed and get a 25% increase in performance. Its all dependant on what the maximum speed of the bus chip can run at.
