William,
I have broadband with Clara, and I would repeat the already made suggestion
that any service linked with BT is to be avoided.
To wireless network 1 Mac + 1 pc I have an Alcatel 570 Wireless pro router
into the Mac with a Buffalo Wireless PCI LAN Adaptor and LAN PC(PCMCIA) card
to go in it, for the PC. The theory is that I can put the wireless card into
a laptop and check out all those interesting engineering sites whilst
pottering in my shed.
dslsource.co.uk were very helpful with advice on what to buy and how to set
it up. The router apparently has a built in firewall, which I haven't
touched. Clara were helpful with the Mac specific info needed to configure
the router. Although the Clara helpline is open 7 days a week they seem only
to have Mac knowhow people available during the week.
All has worked trouble free for three months.
As a result of this investment I have a Alcatel USB router for sale, any
offers!
David
