I've been watching the spec announcements/reports of the new
Canon/Nikon/Kodak digital cameras with interest and they do seem to vary from
average to the ideal camera, capable of producing high quality images, whilst
simultaneously making tea and doing the hoovering!

The D1 was supposed to have a 21 frame burst at 5 fps, according to Canon. Is
this actually about 16 in practice? And the D1s, as noted above, has a 3
frame burst (is this 3 fps or longer?) A dealer told me the burst rate should
be 7 before the buffer is full. And how long does it take to write to the CF
card?
