Norton works most of the time but when it fails it really screws up. I lost
a series of hard discs because of this. Norton SpeedDisk is the only defrag
tool out there that does NOT verify the writes as it's displacing the files.
This is why Optimiser is the preferred choice and Norton shouldn't be used
except for redundant discs. I recently asked some programmers their views on
defragging UNICES , they said probably not, but prefer UFS formatting over
MacOS Extended. Thus the answer is still awaiting to come.
