Looks like the same problem from both Norton & Disk Warrior - the new dual processor machines need special versions of both software to run - given that the versions of OSX were the same on my powerbook & my new G4 DP, I never thought to look at hardware compatibility! Unfortunately, I only found this out after completely reformatting the hard drive & I will now be re-installing all the software for the second time in three days - ah well, you live & learn....
