SF & Vuescan are very different. IMO SF makes most sense in a production environment, producing lots of scans without any real need for PS. Vuescan is best regarded as just a 'front end' to get max image info into PS where it can be dealt with. It's particularly useful for colour neg. VS happens to suit me better but if you are used to SF and like it and don't mind the occasional shake-down for more cash, and it produces the results, stick with it. However, VS is shareware @$40USfrom www.hamrick.com (including future upgrades), so you can try before buying, albeit with a watermark.
