I'm really surprised about the comment that Viewscan is less suitable for
batch scanning than SilverFast. If anything, I think that it is quicker to
use ViewScan for volume scanning, though its image manipulation capabilities
are less user friendly than ScanFast (is that what was meant be its being
more of a front-end for PS?). Support for ViewScan is excellent (I've been
getting free upgrades for 3 years now) and the last few releases have seen
more and more features added in... such as the incredibly useful
gamut/clipping feature in the latest release (7.6.1)

and no. I don't work for them!

Also does anyone else find SilverFast has a tendency to crash?  Particularly
when called as a PS plugin on Windows?
